This giclée print offers beautiful color accuracy on a high-quality paper with its smooth, acid free surface, is a great option for framing. Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface creating natural color transitions.
Vincent Van Gogh (1853 – 1890) was born in Holland and was a painter with artistic brilliance – a prolific artist who produced all of his work during a 10-year period, creating an incredible 150 paintings and drawings within one year. Suffering from depression for most of his life, he believed he could remain sane by painting. Van Gogh was a post-Impressionist artist who powerfully influenced modern Expressionism, Fauvism and early abstraction. One of the most famous was the iconic “Starry Night” with swirling brushstrokes, vivid colors and distorted forms. “Starry Night,” his most famous piece, was created completely from memory in 1889, while he was in an asylum in Saint-Rémy, where he spent the last months of his life. This painting currently hangs in the permanent collection in New York’s of Modern Art. Sadly, Van Gogh sold only one painting in his lifetime. “Irises, Saint-Remy” set a world record in 1987 when it sold for $49 million.
